We mentioned last week that the Design Museum has announced a major Dieter Rams exhibition in London from November this year, no doubt showing off all the major designs Rams creating for Braun, which will certainly include the Braun SK55 radio/record player, which you can own right now if you bid for the one above on eBay.

It's a classic design from Rams and Hans Gugelot, dating back to 1956 and known affectionately as 'Snow White's coffin' for reasons probably evident from the picture above. It's described as being in 'very nice original condition' and 'full working order', which means you can take in radio over three bands and vinyl over three speeds, throwing on some stylish modernist design for your living room too.

Unlikely to be sold at 1970s pricing, Porsche has unveiled the 911 Sport Classic, which harks back to that era, whilst at the same time keeping the best of the modern world.

In terms of retro features, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic comes with a 'ducktail' rear spoiler, based on the one previously seen on the iconic 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, along with  some old school racing stripes, the return of the 19-inch alloy wheels and a brown leather interior that screams the 1970s (you can check that out over the page).

But this is still a modern sports car, complete with a 3.8-litre ‘boxer’ engine that can hit a top speed of 187mph, doing 0 - 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. No news on price, but we expect that to be up there with the rest of the Porsche range - and probably beyond.

Highlights of the week

Franco Rosso's excellent British reggae drama Babylon gets a rare terrestrial TV screening this week (BBC 2. Sun 6th,12Midnight). Set in South London in 1980, the film centres on sound system 'toaster' Blue (Brinsley Forde) and his crew, Ital Lion, as they ready themselves for a face off with rival group Jah Shaka. As the event approaches, Blue's personal life becomes plagued with difficulty when he is fired from his job and begins to suspect his girlfriend of cheating on him. However, the worst is yet to come when Blue is savagely beaten by the police and his Ital Lion brethren discover that their equipment has been destroyed. Broken and succumbing to the belief that recent events are an indication of society's rejection of his race, Blue decides to fight back.

Bernie Dexter may be best known for her striking resemblance to Bettie Page, but her talents go far beyond the realms of imitation. The fashion lines she models for are all must-see rockabilly bits, but her own line stands up among the best.

This Rebel Knit Pullover Top is worth a look thanks to its rarity - finding cropped pullovers with genuine 50s looks can be a tall order. The leopard print treads the line well between tacky and effortless chic, while the loose shape and sleek collar lend a vintage authenticity.
